About the Practice
A well-established anesthesia group in the DeKalb area of northern Illinois is seeking a motivated and skilled Anesthesiologist with a focus on pain management. The practice delivers high-quality anesthesia services across a broad range of surgical specialties, with a growing emphasis on interventional pain care.
Opportunity
This full-time Anesthesiologist position offers an approximate case mix of 20% pain management and 80% general anesthesia. Pain case volume is expected to grow as the physician builds a referral base within the community. A pain fellowship is required, and pain fellows are welcome to apply. A partnership track is available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
Provide and manage anesthesia for a diverse range of general surgical procedures. Conduct thorough pre-anesthesia patient evaluations and develop individualized anesthetic plans. Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care utilizing current techniques and medications. Continuously monitor patient vital signs and adjust anesthetic delivery to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical conditions. Manage emergence from anesthesia and provide appropriate post-anesthesia care. Develop and implement comprehensive pain management treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic pain conditions. Perform a variety of interventional pain management procedures (depending on training and experience). Build and maintain strong relationships with referring physicians to grow the pain management practice. Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with practice policies and procedures. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to all safety protocols.
Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree. Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pain Management Fellowship is required. Current unrestricted medical license in Illinois (or eligibility for licensure). Current BLS and ACLS certifications. Strong clinical skills in both general anesthesia and pain management. Proficiency in a variety of anesthetic and interventional pain management techniques. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
